Built4PeopleA partnership bringing together Horizon Europe projects on climate, energy and mobility

ShieldBot is proud to be part of the Built4People (B4P) community, a European partnership under Horizon Europe. It stands alongside other European projects working to advance digitalisation, data-driven decision-making and smarter building management.

Built4People’s mission is to accelerate the transition towards a people-centric, climate-neutral, sustainable and smart built environment.

As a Built4People project, ShieldBot contributes to this vision by bringing advanced robotics and sustainable practices to building renovation and maintenance. Three specialised robots, InnerShieldBot, InspectionShieldBot, and FaçadeShieldBot, work on thermal shielding inside and outside buildings and on exterior inspections. DigiShield, a digital twin platform, supports them by enabling real-time decision-making and precise project planning, and EcoShield, eco-friendly insulation materials, further reduces the carbon footprint of construction.

At the heart of this approach is human-robot collaboration: ShieldBot’s robots are designed to support rather than replace human workers, enhancing safety and efficiency on site.

The project aims to make robotic renovation more practical and widely adopted, from complex, unstructured construction environments to the industry’s limited uptake of robotics. ShieldBot showcases its solutions in three demo cases: interior wall and ceiling construction in office buildings, inspection and maintenance of exterior façades, and exterior façade insulation of multi-family dwellings.

Through this work, and alongside its fellow members of the Tech4EUconstruction cluster, ShieldBot is contributing to a growing European ecosystem of practical solutions for a more sustainable and smarter built environment.
