SHIELDBOT will take part in the AI Data Robotics Forum 2026 (ADRF26) held on 13-14 October in Porto, Portugal, as part of a workshop organised by the Tech4EUConstruction Cluster. The workshop, AI, Data and Robotics for Construction 5.0: From European Pilots to Industrial Deployment, will take place on 14 October from 14:30 to 15:45 in the Infante Room.
Robotics pilots in construction and renovation are growing across Europe, but adoption remains fragmented. The session will ask a practical question: how can Europe move from promising pilots to technologies that deliver real value on construction and renovation sites?
Four Horizon Europe projects from the cluster, SHIELDBOT, RoboCons, DISCOVER and RADIANCE, will act as complementary cases covering façade renovation, interior works, inspection, digital twins, logistics and human–robot collaboration. The discussion will address:
- What data needs to be captured and shared?
- How can robotic systems be safely validated on real sites?
- Which value metrics matter to contractors and building owners?
- How can we address interoperability and worker acceptance?
- What capabilities and skills are needed to scale European construction robotics?
The workshop will be moderated by Andoni Amurrio (IKERLAN | RoboCons), and the speakers will be: Juanan Arrieta (IDEKO), representing the ShieldBot Project, alongside Jorge Rodriguez (IKERLAN | RoboCons Project), Carlos Saldarriaga (CDEI-UPC | DISCOVER Project) and Gálata Martínez (Universidade de Vigo | RADIANCE Project).
The session will combine short project presentations with small-group discussion, a moderated panel and an audience Q&A, bringing together researchers, industry and other ADRF stakeholders. The aim is to identify deployment barriers, reusable success factors and priorities for action, which will be shared in a public summary after the event.
